Association
La Casa del Faro
About us
La Casa del Faro (The Lighthouse) is a social promotion association established in 2021 by Sandra Caddeo, a project designer. The foundation of the association marks the culmination of a path of social and cultural activities that began several years earlier. Notable projects predating 2021 include “From Lego to Cinema” and “The Lights of Horn.”
Today, the association is characterized by its commitment to social causes and a pedagogical mission, forging connections between public and private entities while consistently updating communication and strategies in the socio- cultural domain.

Our projects
At the edge of reality
The project arises as a parallel initiative to the activities of the Emiliodoc magazine with the aim of providing young people in the Bologna area with tools and stimuli to understand and enhance the reality of our territory. The magazine’s primary objective is to promote the Emilia-Romagna region and the knowledge of documentary media. The project aimed to lay the foundations for involving young people, who personally acquire the tools to become “narrators of the territory”.
The project has received support from the Fondazione del Monte di Bologna and Ravenna.
Digital magician
The project consists of various modules (smartphone usage, email writing, Office Suite usage, etc.) and aims to provide the digital skills necessary to navigate in a society increasingly focused on the virtual realm.
The workshops take place at the Nello Frassinetti Neighborhood House in Bologna and involve children, teenagers, the elderly, and migrants.
For this project, we have collaborated with Ritmo Lento, Casalone, Sofos APS, Fucina XXI APS, Film Nello Zaino, and Young About.
From Lego to cinema
Utilizing the innovative Lego Serious Play methodology, we use the famous little bricks to tell stories and build the plot of a documentary. The workshops are aimed at children and young people aged 4 to 18.
Conceived by Casa del Faro and realized in collaboration with the San Donato-San Vitale District, Nello Frassinetti Neighborhood House, and the Bombicci, Gualandi, and Garibaldi schools in Bologna. Contributions have also come from associations such as D-ER Emilia-Romagna Documentarists, Sofos, Youngabout Film Festival, Gli amici del Vittoria, and Visioni Fantastiche Ravenna.
Cultural fostering
We organize guided tours to exhibitions, artworks, concerts, or city monuments with certified guides who use anecdotes to convey local stories. In this way, we associate knowledge with emotions, promoting a pragmatic and experiential approach rather than a frontal one.
The project is implemented thanks to the collaboration with Sofos, Il Casalone, and the Nello Frassinetti Neighborhood House, primarily involving young people from the Oikos Recovery Community.
Job desk
At the Nello Frassinetti Neighborhood House, we assist all individuals of working age (unemployed, employed seeking new opportunities, recent high school and university graduates) in searching for employment opportunities on various public platforms, while also informing them about different training possibilities.
The project is supported by the San Donato-San Vitale District and the associations Sofos and Antartide.
Homework help
We provide homework assistance activities at the Nello Frassinetti Neighborhood House for children and teenagers aged 6 to 18. We serve as a reference point for families and we collaborate with local social and educational services.
Cineforum (6-18)
We organize film forums for young people (aged 6-18) and their families to raise awareness about social and historical issues.
Events hosted by Il Casalone and the Nello Frassinetti Neighborhood House, featuring themes like “Come eravamo” (How we were), “Il cinema d’animazione” (Animation), and “La storia al cinema” (History in cinema).
Digital workshops
Thanks to collaboration with the Neighborhood Houses in Bologna, we guide individuals in carrying out online practices (administrative, fiscal, healthcare, etc.) and provide everyone with the basic tools to be self-sufficient in the digital era. We also inform our users about the countless possibilities available on the web.
Dismantle and rebuild a computer
Workshop designed for curious children, teenagers, and adults with the aim of discovering the internal structure of a computer to understand its functioning while engaging in a do-it-yourself activity. The workshop is conducted by Sandra Caddeo in collaboration with Sofos.
